Start with what you need to do.

No readings or a disconnected device

Check that the logger has power and your home Wi-Fi is working. The portal keeps the last reading, but marks it as old when fresh data stops arriving.

If one battery is missing while the others report, check that battery’s connection. For a wired battery, check its communication cable and address. For a Bluetooth battery or balancer, check it is powered, within range and not connected to a phone app.

A partial-system warning means the headline covers only the batteries currently reporting. An offline balancer is an accessory connection problem; it does not mean the battery itself has stopped working.

Add a logger

Connect the new logger to your home Wi-Fi using its setup screens. Sign in to your OneWatt account, then scan the QR code on the logger label or enter its serial number and claim code. It will join your existing dashboard.

Understand the Simple view

Charge is how full your battery reports itself. Charging means power is going in; discharging means power is coming out. The four tiles show voltage, current, the difference between cell voltages, and the warmest reported temperature.

Open a battery row to see its cells and temperatures. Open Detailed for charts, measurements and downloads. For several independent systems, choose the one you want above the summary; their charge percentages are never added together.

The basics

In Detailed, each logger and battery has a folding card. Tap its title to open it; your browser remembers the sections you leave open. The headline numbers refresh every 5 seconds; the charts redraw every 30 seconds. The time buttons (3h, 24h, 7d, 30d, 1y) set the window every chart shows, and Simple / Detailed chooses how much you see. Simple says what the battery is doing in a sentence, shows its charge as a picture, the voltage, current, cell balance and battery temperature with a word next to each, and a line of the charge over the last 24 hours; each battery is one tap away. Detailed adds the time buttons, the charts, temperatures, activity and diagnostics.

State of charge

The big percentage is how full the battery reports itself, with the bar underneath showing the same thing at a glance. A grey bar means the battery has stopped reporting and the figure is its last known value, not a live one. Below 30% the figure turns amber, below 15% red.

Where several separate batteries share one logger there is no single true percentage across them, so the card's headline shows the lowest — the number that tells you whether anything needs attention — and each battery keeps its own bar. If your batteries are genuinely wired together as one bank, set them to One system in Settings and the card shows a proper combined charge and capacity instead. Capacity is written as amp-hours and kWh together — kWh at the batteries' nominal voltage, so a 5.3 kWh battery reads 5.3 kWh — and amp-hours only when the batteries share one voltage, because they only add at the same voltage.

Voltage & current

Two panels sharing one timeline: pack voltage on top, current below. Positive current is charging, negative is discharging. They are separate panels rather than one chart with two scales because volts and amps share their timing, not their size — lining them up vertically shows you how voltage responds to load without the chart inventing a relationship.

Drag across either panel to zoom into a window — pinch works on a phone, and the slider under the chart does the same job. The Energy figures follow whatever window you select, which is how you measure a specific charge or discharge: highlight it and read the numbers. Zoom back out (slider or pinch) to return to the whole range.

Energy

Charge in and discharge out are the amp-hours that flowed into and out of the battery over the selected range — or over the window you have zoomed the voltage & current chart into. Net charge is the difference (positive means the battery gained), and net energy is the same idea in watt-hours. Gaps in the data are never bridged: if the logger was offline for a stretch, no energy is invented for it.

State of charge over time

The charge percentage drawn over the selected range — the shape of your days: charge climbing while solar or a charger is on, falling under load. A gap means the battery was not reporting; the line deliberately does not pretend otherwise.

Power

Watts flowing in or out, split so charging draws above the zero line and discharging below. It is the same story as the current panel scaled by voltage — useful when you think in watts against an inverter or charger rating.

Temperatures

Every temperature probe the battery reports, one line each. Only the warmest and coolest lines carry a number at the right edge — six overlapping numbers would be unreadable — and the legend or a tap names the rest. Batteries are happiest in the middle of their range; what matters here is one probe drifting away from the others, or everything climbing during heavy charge.

Cells

A battery is a chain of cells, and the chain is only as good as its weakest link — which is why the cell views exist. List shows every cell's voltage with a dot on a bar: the bar is a fixed 50 mV window centred on the pack average, so cells bunched in the middle mean a well-balanced pack, and a dot pushed to an edge is a cell drifting. ▲ marks the highest cell, ▼ the lowest. Balance shows the same thing as a picture.

Over time draws every cell's voltage across the selected range — all in one colour on purpose, because what you are reading is the texture: lines moving as one band are a healthy pack, a line peeling away is a cell going. Tap a line (or a cell in the list) to highlight just that cell; the Envelope view folds them into a lowest–average–highest band instead.

Delta is the gap between the highest and lowest cell in millivolts — one number for the whole pack's balance. The delta over time chart carries a dashed line at 50 mV as a watch level: a delta that creeps upward week on week is the earliest sign a cell is failing, long before capacity visibly drops. Delta naturally widens under heavy charge or discharge and settles at rest — it is the trend at rest that matters.

What the battery was doing

Timeline lanes for the selected range: when the battery was charging, discharging, when its charge and discharge MOSFETs (the battery's own switches) were on, and when it was reporting at all. Each lane shows the share of the range it was active. Useful for questions like “did it actually charge yesterday?” at a glance.

Diagnostics

Health is the battery's own estimate of remaining capacity against new, alongside its cycle count. The protection and fault words are shown raw, as the battery reports them — their bit meanings vary between models, so the dashboard does not guess; a genuine fault still raises the red chip on the battery card. The capacity chart tracks the amp-hours the battery believes it holds (remaining), can hold (full), and was designed to hold — full drifting down over years is normal aging. A remaining figure is only believed when it fits the battery's own percentage; otherwise the amp-hours and kWh on the dashboard are worked out from that percentage and marked , with a line saying so. The raw figure is still on this chart.

Download CSV exports one battery over the selected range, at the same resolution the charts show, for a spreadsheet. Save as PDF prints the page as you have it set up — open the sections you want included first.
